Off-duty Devils Lake officer injured after weapon discharged
DEVILS LAKE — An off-duty Devils Lake Police officer was injured in an incident the morning of Tuesday, Sept. 9, after barricading himself inside a home, according to a release from the Devils Lake Police Department.
According to the release, Devils Lake Police officers were dispatched at around 11 p.m. Monday, Sept. 8, to a residence for a report of a 911 hang up call. An investigation was initiated, and a search warrant was obtained and executed. In the attempt to execute the search warrant, the subject, an off-duty Devils Lake Police officer, barricaded himself inside the home with a weapon.
Personnel with the Devils Lake Police Department and Ramsey County Sheriff’s Office negotiated with the officer for several hours. Shortly after 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, a weapon was discharged and the subject was transported to a Devils Lake hospital.
According to the release, there is an ongoing investigation into the incident by the North Dakota Bureau of Criminal Investigation. No additional information was made available at this time.
