Robbery suspect makes initial appearance
A Minot woman arrested on Monday for allegedly stealing a bottle of liquor and threatening an employee with a knife made her initial appearance in North Central District Court on Tuesday.
Denise Leigh Howlingwolf, 37, has been charged with robbery with a dangerous weapon, a Class B felony, and terrorizing and contact by bodily fluids-law enforcement-knowingly, both Class C felonies.
According to the affidavit of probable cause, Minot Police responded to a report of a woman running around near a North Minot hotel and threatening people with a knife. Officers made contact with Howlingwolf at the hotel and took custody of the knife before escorting her to her room. Shortly after a call was made to central dispatch by an employee of a North Minot liquor store, who reported that he had confronted a woman who left the store with a bottle of liquor, drew a knife and threatened to kill him.
The interaction was witnessed by an employee of a nearby gas station, and the description provided by the employee matched that of Howlingwolf. Officers retrieved the bottle of liquor and transported Howlingwolf to Trinity Hospital for a medical clearance before transporting her to the Ward County Jail.
Howlingwolf is being held at the Ward County Jail on a $25,000 corporate/surety bond following her initial appearance. Her preliminary hearing is scheduled for Thursday, June 20.
