Open houses set for Compatible Use Study

The City of Minot is updating the 2015 Minot Air Force Base Joint Land Use Study with a Compatible Use Study addendum and invites the public to participate in three public open houses in early June.

The city has retained HR Green, a planning and engineering consulting firm, to lead the study update. The Compatible Use Study will examine land use patterns, development trends and compatibility issues in areas surrounding Minot Air Force Base and its 8,500 square miles of missile complex to identify strategies that support both the military mission and community development.

The study area includes Bottineau, Burke, McHenry, McLean, Mountrail, Renville and Ward counties, as well as MHA Nation. The planning effort is focused on protecting the Air Force mission while supporting the long-term growth and resilience of surrounding communities.

Open houses will be held Tuesday, June 2, in Minot City Hall, council chambers, 10 3rd Ave. SW; Wednesday, June 3, in the Mohall Community Center, 807 Highway 5 E.; and Thursday, June 4, in Teddy’s Residential Suites, 951 Eagle Dr., New Town. All open houses run from 5:30-7:30 p.m.

The open house format allows attendees to arrive anytime, view displays and speak with the project team.

Starting at $2.99/week.
