MARCO director selected as fellow in rural initiative

Jennifer Perdue

Jennifer Perdue, executive director of the Minot Area Recovery Community Organization (MARCO), has been selected as an individual fellow for the Reaching Rural Initiative.

Reaching Rural is co-sponsored by the Bureau of Justice Assistance, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and the State Justice Institute. The application process was competitive, with only 23 communities selected from more than 100 applications. Perdue’s selection as a part of this fellowship is a major step toward innovative solutions for recovery in the Minot area with funding opportunities, federal investment and tailored support for the Minot community.

Reaching Rural provides support to fellows — both as individuals and as teams — over a year-long initiative to help them expand their leadership skills, engage them in project and systems planning and highlight successful and innovative strategies to address substance use disorder in small and rural communities. Fellows engage in virtual and in-person convenings, learn from each other and national experts and identify areas of opportunity to improve outcomes for their communities and residents. Fellows also have ongoing access to a coaching team to provide support, connections to experts and resources, and assistance with project planning.

MARCO and Perdue will be sharing progress toward new programming and initiatives in the Minot community in the months to come.
