Fundraiser helps students with music-related experiences

Jeremy Meinert

Chuck Full of Music, an annual event to raise funds to help Minot Public Schools middle and high school students with various music-related experiences, will be held Monday, April 15, at Magic City Campus.

“All 7-12 grade bands, choirs and orchestras will perform a variety of music,” said Ramstad Band Director Jeremy Meinert. “The 9th-12th grade band will be playing selections from ‘Star Trek’ and ‘Lord of the Rings.’ I’ll be co-directing with Evan Meiers, who has been the main director at Minot High School for the past three years.

“The money being raised will be used to help cover expenses for students who travel to Disney World with the band, choir and orchestra at the high school level,” Meinert said. “Some money is used to provide scholarships to International Music Camp for 7-12 grade music students.”

Although these trips are important to the students’ musical growth, the plan for future Chuck Full of Music fundraisers is to raise money for other ways to continue to grow the music programs.

“Going forward, proceeds will be used to bring in guest artists and clinicians to help improve our music program,” Meinert said.

Monday’s event is set to begin at 3:30 p.m.
