Prescribed Fire Workshop to educate landowners

FARGO – The North Dakota Prescribed Fire Cooperative is hosting a Prescribed Fire Workshop on Tuesday, May 7, with a rain date scheduled for Tuesday, May 14, in Jamestown.

Landowners interested in learning more about prescribed fire as a management tool are invited to register for this free full-day workshop, which includes classroom style instruction and a hands-on prescribed fire demonstration. Prescribed fire supports improved habitat for grassland birds and other wildlife.

Participants will learn about tools and equipment, planning and resources from Chris Gordon, North Dakota fire manager at The Nature Conservancy, and Kelli Kuska, North Dakota Prescribed Fire Burn coordinator at Pheasants Forever.

Participants are asked to bring their own chair and lunch; water will be provided. Participants should wear 100% cotton clothing, closed toe leather boots, leather gloves and eye protection for the live fire demonstration.

For more information and to register, contact Kuska at Pheasants Forever.
