District 6 candidate files for primary ballot

Dan Vollmer

WILLOW CITY – Dan Vollmer has filed as a Republican candidate for the June 11 primary ballot to represent District 6 in the North Dakota House of Representatives.

Vollmer grew up on the family farm at Willow City in Ostby Township and graduated from Willow City High School. Vollmer graduated from North Dakota State University and continued his education at the Graduate School of Banking at University of Colorado. He is a fifth generation North Dakotan, and the Vollmer family has been a part of the Willow City and Bottineau County community since 1887. Dan and his wife, LeAnn, continue to live at the farm.

The Vollmer family has been active in the Republican party for decades. Dan’s grandfather, Art Vollmer, ran as a Republican for the House of Representatives in the 1940s and served as a precinct committeeman. Dan Vollmer was a former vice chairman in District 9 and has attended many Republican State Conventions. One of the most memorable conventions was when he was able to meet Ronald Reagan and support his nomination for president.

Vollmer has been active on the farm his entire life and involved in the community banking industry in North Dakota for more than 40 years. He is a past member of the Board of Directors of the North Dakota Bankers Association and several other community organizations. He spent many years as a volunteer hunter education instructor teaching young hunters the safe use of firearms.

If elected, Dan’s priorities will be to promote conservative pro-growth policies that support businesses and farms, individual freedoms, limited government, fiscal responsibility, free markets, and energy development in North Dakota.

“With the war going on against fossil fuels, we need to support our oil, gas, and coal industries. We also need to support our rural political subdivisions. Government closest to the people is always the best. In North Dakota, we should promote the kind of policies that attract citizens that can live here, achieve their goals and provide a safe place to raise their families,” he said.

The GOP-endorsed candidates in District 6 are Kolette Kramer and Pat Bachmeier for the House of Representatives. Rep. Dick Anderson, R-Willow City, also previously had announced his intention to seek reelection.
