Young archers successful in hybrid 4-H match
Ward County 4-H had 26 archers compete in the April 1 South Central District Hybrid 4-H Archery Match
hosted by LaMoure County. The hybrid match allowed participants to submit scores in the mail or
compete in person at the range in LaMoure.
The groups for indoor archery matches are by age and bow type. Ages are Beginner (8 to 10 years old), Junior (11 to 13), and Senior (14 to 18). There is also a Masters division for those at least 14 years old who qualified for a national contest in their age and bow division. The bow divisions are Barebow, which has no sights or releases on the bow, and Freestyle, which holds either a sight or a release.
Results for Ward County participants from the match are as follows.
Senior Freestyle division:
– Representing Ward County was Axel Holter, Donnybrook; Clay Carpenter, Granville; Vanessa Fransen, Makoti; and Elizabeth Kraft, Minot.
Junior Freestyle division:
– Representing Ward County were Wade Asmundson, Berthold; Brynlee Bloms, Carpio; Faith Carpenter, Granville; Paislee Everson, Breanna Mindt, Grady Mostad, McKinley Schultz, and Cole Whitcher, all Minot; Finoa Burton, Minot Air Force Base; and Tyson Barden, Surrey.
Junior Barebow division:
— fifth place, Bloms, with a score of 255 points; seventh place, Raegan Albert, Ryder, 253; also representing Ward County were Abigail Burton, Minot Air Force Base; P. Everson, and Mindt.
Beginner Freestyle division:
— first place, Quade Everson, Minot, 142; also representing Ward County were Owen Peterson and Hunter Schultz, Minot; Kendall Janz, Ryder; Blake Guritz and Tabitha Hauge, Surrey; second place team, Q. Everson, Guritz, Peterson and Schultz. with a combined score of 357.
Beginner Barebow division:
— second place, Tayler Knoke, Surrey, 256; 10th place, Janz, 227; also representing Ward County were Charlotte and Henry Fitzpatrick, Minot; Taryn Albert, Ryder, and Q. Everson; division winning team, T. Albert, Q. Everson, Knoke and Janz, with a combined score of 708.
