Energy Game Day set for Sept. 17 at Minot State University

The Minot-area community is invited to Energy Game Day at Minot State University’s First Western Bank Field at Herb Parker Stadium on Saturday, Sept. 17. Tailgating will start at 9 a.m. with food and family-friendly entertainment.

Energy Game Day will feature food and fun provided by local oil and gas companies and financial institutions, including Creedence Energy Services, Hess Corp., Farstad Oil, Town and Country Credit Union, Cameron, SandPro, Enbridge, Baker Hughes, DrillChem, 3 Forks Services, North Dakota Petroleum Foundation and First International Bank and Trust. The band, Boys of Summer, will provide live music.

“Many oil and gas companies call the Minot area their home, employing hundreds of people in our region,” said Kevin Black, Creedence Energy Services CEO and Minot Area Chamber EDC Board of Directors chair-elect. “This event will provide an opportunity for companies to show support for Minot State while sharing the important work they do in our region.”

“We are excited to bring oil and gas companies and employees to Herb Parker Stadium for a great day of food, fun and Minot State Football,” said Kent Kirkhammer, president/CEO at NewKota. “It’s a focus for our organizations and companies to give back to the communities where we live and work, and partnering with Minot State has been a fantastic opportunity.” Kirkhammer is the Minot Area Chamber EDC Energy Committee chair and a member of the API Bakken Chapter.

“Minot State University is excited to partner with a number of companies and organizations in the oil and gas sector for our first-ever Energy Game Day,” MSU President Steven Shirley said. “There is a rich tradition of MSU alumni working in the energy industry, and we are thankful to our oil and gas partners for their strong support and look forward to an exciting Energy Game Day encompassing our Beaver Football game.”

The MSU game against Wayne State College kicks off at 1 p.m. The tailgating at 9 a.m. will take place in the east parking lot of the MSU Dome. T-shirts and other promotional items will be available.
