Two charged with breaking into Balfour city hall
Christopher Allen Mullins, 18, Minot, and Andrew Harry Smith, 18, Sawyer, are accused of breaking into the city hall in Balfour on Saturday. Mullins is charged with Class B felony burglary, Class A misdemeanor criminal trespass, Class A misdemeanor theft, and Class B misdemeanor intoxicated while in actual physical control of a motor vehicle. Smith is charged with Class B felony burglary, Class A misdemeanor theft of property, and Class B misdemeanor trespass in district court in McHenry County on Aug. 25. Smith is charged with
According to court documents, Mullins admitted to smashing in a window, kicking in a door and entered the building. The group of teens allegedly stole a coat hanger, pictures and a toy car before they decided to get in their vehicle and drive away. Mullins, Smith, and a juvenile boy were eventually located in the parking lot of Finish Line Burgers in Velva and were placed under arrest. Mullins allegedly said they were coming from Fargo. Smith told authorities that he thought they had stopped in Anamoose.
