Matthew Melbarzdis, 23, of Minot, has died from injuries sustained in a one-vehicle rollover on Christmas Day in the 6900 block of Ward County Highway 15, according to the North Dakota Highway Patrol.

Melbarzdis was driving north on Ward County Highway 15 from Minot to Burlington and lost control of the vehicle on the snowy and icy roads after he had passed 68th Street NW. The vehicle entered the east ditch and struck an approach. The vehicle overturned onto its roof, pinning Melbarzdis in the vehicle.

He was extracted from the vehicle and taken to the hospital for treatment. The family notified the Highway Patrol on Jan. 5 that Melbarzdis had passed away from his injuries.

Melbarzdis was not wearing a seat belt.
