Beaver men’s hockey is independent, Waselenchuk announces MCH departure

Minot State men’s hockey head coach Wyatt Waselenchuk announced the team’s departure from the Midwest College Hockey conference in a statement released by the university on Thursday, Apr. 16.

The Beavers will return to independent status in the American Collegiate Hockey Association after two season in the MCH conference.

“We are grateful for the opportunity to have been part of the MCH,” Coach Waselenchuk said. “Over the past two seasons, the MCH allowed us to create new rivalries and strengthen old ones, and the experience of winning two MCH Championships is one our players will never forget.”

The Beavers had two dominant season in the MCH, ending their first conference season with a record of 38-3-1 and their second with a record of 28-2-1.

The Beavers secured the MCH Championship title in both seasons and ended both of their last two post season runs in the ACHA National Tournament against Adrian College.

The Beavers will return to the ice as an independent team beginning with their 2026-2027 season.
