David Diaz Jr., Minot, sentenced to 360 days unsupervised probation for menacing
David Diaz Jr., 38, Minot, was sentenced on Monday in district court in Mountrail County to 360 days in jail, all suspended but the one day he already served, and 360 days of unsupervised probation for reaching towards his waistband and making a threat towards a building manager who confronted him for being on the property in Parshall on April 4. He was also ordered to have no contact with the victim in the Class A misdemeanor menacing case and to pay court costs. Diaz received a deferred imposition of sentence for 360 days for a Class B misdemeanor criminal mischief charge. According to court documents, Diaz had pulled at and broke a gutter on the side of the building and pulled a cord attached to a satellite dish on the roof and broke it. The victim in the case told police that Diaz was acting like he had mental health problems.
Diaz has exhibited similar behavior in the past and has been charged in other, unrelated, cases in Mountrail County and Ward County.
