Darrell Green, Detroit, Mich., faces mandatory 10 years in prison for conspiracy to distribute fentanyl

Darrell Maurice Green, 30, Detroit, Mich., one of the conspirators in a fentanyl ring that distributed pills that contained a mixture of oxycodone and fentanyl in Bismarck and Mandan and on the Fort Berthold and Spirit Lake Indian reservations last year through early this year, is scheduled to be sentenced in U.S. District Court in Bismarck on Jan. 10, 2022.

A change of plea hearing was held Monday.

The maximum sentence is life in prison, with a minimum mandatory sentence of 10 years in prison and eight years of supervised probation. Green has a violent criminal history dating back to his teens in Michigan that includes carjacking, armed robbery, and unlawful imprisonment. His sentence could be greater due to his criminal record. The prosecution will recommend a sentence within the sentencing guidelines or the minimum mandatory sentence, whichever is greater.

According to court documents, Green, who goes by the name Rell, and his co-conspirators, made use of local drug dealers or users to locate customers, deliver opiate pills, and collect and transport cash. The drugs were brought from Michigan and Green used an apartment in Bismarck as a base for his drug trafficking.
