Chance James Braun, 21, Minot, is accused of knocking a boy unconscious during a fight on Aug. 12, 2020. He is charged in district court in Minot with Class C felony aggravated assault.

According to a probable cause affidavit filed with the court, the alleged victim had been involved in a physical altercation earlier in the day with a woman associated with Braun. The woman pushed and hit the alleged victim, who pushed her to the ground in return. Braun then came over and punched the alleged victim in response to what he had done to the woman.

The alleged victim, who was under 18, was treated for a head injury at the hospital.

No charges were filed against the alleged victim for the earlier altercation.

Braun made an initial appearance on the aggravated assault charge on Monday before Judge Todd Cresap. A preliminary hearing in the case is scheduled for March 11.
