Alex Peltier, Minot, sentenced to 74 days time served, 2 years probation, for fleeing deputy at 100 mph in motor vehicle
Alex Roy Peltier, 26, Minot, was sentenced on Thursday to 360 days in jail, all suspended but the 74 days he already served and 10 days off his sentence for good behavior, and two years of supervised probation for fleeing from a sheriff’s deputy at speeds approaching 100 mph on Nov. 15, 2020 and endangering other drivers.
According to court documents, Ward County Deputy Wyatt Smith tried to stop Peltier for a registration violation at the intersection of Ward County Road 8 and County Road 23, but Peltier refused to stop and sped away. Peltier continued to lead law enforcement on a high-speed chase through and around Minot, at times driving in the wrong lane, driving at high speed and endangering other cars on the roadway. At the end of 48th Avenue, Peltier drove south on Main Street at high speed, went through a stop sign at 46th Avenue, and then collided with a street light at the intersection of 45th Avenue and Main Street. Peltier’s vehicle knocked over the street light and rolled onto the rooftop. Methamphetamine was found in the car before it was impounded. Peltier also pleaded guilty to Class A misdemeanor possession of methamphetamine and received a deferred imposition of sentence for 360 days and was ordered to obtain a chemical dependency evaluation.
