Taube Museum offers summer art experiences
The Taube Museum of Art in Minot has a full slate of offerings for members and nonmembers, both adults and children, this summer.
Upcoming classes held at the Taube in downtown Minot that are part of the Summer Art Series for youth include:
-Scrape It Off, June 10, 1 p.m., ages 5 and older, use squeegees to turn paint dots into colorful works of art.
-Fabulous Fashion Fun, June 11, 1 p.m., ages 7-9, create fashion outfit including a shirt, skirt, purse and necklace.
-Building Birdhouses, June 12, 10:30 a.m., ages 5 and older, use recycled materials to create a unique birdhouse.
-Eye See You, June 12, 1 p.m., ages 8 and older, take a closer look at the human eye and learn drawing and painting techniques.
-Paints, Prints and Fish, June 17, 9:30 a.m., ages 4-5, create underwater creatures using a variety of materials.
– Soak Up the Sun, June 17, 1 p.m., ages 7 and older, make a variety of sun catchers with different techniques.
-Mobiles and Sculptures, June 18-19, 9:30 a.m., ages 6 and older, learn about famous artists and recreate their works.
-Batty About Bats, June 19, 10:30 a.m., Bat-themed art activity for ages 2-3 with parent participation.
-Drawing and Sketchbooks, June 19, 1 p.m., ages 7 and older, create sketchbooks and explore drawing techniques.
-Down on the Farm, June 23, 1 p.m., ages 4-5, listen to a story and create fun farm animals, tractors, and more.
-Art Exploration, June 25, 10:30 a.m., ages 5 and older, use baking soda, Kool-Aid, vinegar, and more to create art.
-Wild and Wacky Birds, July 1, 1 p.m., ages 6 and older, will use vibrant colors, shapes and mixed media to bring wacky bird creations to life.
-There’s a Monster in My Closet, July 8, 1 p.m., ages 5 and older, use different techniques to create 3D monsters.
-Paper Dolls, July 11, 1 p.m., ages 7-9, use a variety of materials to create a paper doll and wardrobe.
-Going on a Safari, July 15, 9:30 a.m., ages 2-3 with parent participation, use a variety of materials to create wildlife.
-Paper Making Cards, July 16, 1 p.m., ages 7 and older, create notecards using recycled paper.
-Who Wants To Be a Superhero, July 22, 1 p.m., ages 6 and older, create a superhero cape.
-Creative Creatures, July 22, 1 p.m., ages 5 and older, use cardboard, clothespins and other materials to create safari animals.
-Tie Dye Surprise, July 23, 1 p.m., ages 6 and older, tie dye paint on a canvas.
-Terrific Turtle, July 24, 10 a.m., ages 6 and older, use air dry clay and markers to make a pet turtle.
-Mixed media sculpture, Aug. 11, 10:30 a.m., ages 5 and older, create a fun sculpture using various materials.
-Under the Sea, Aug. 14, 10:30 a.m., ages 7 and older, use clay to create a coral reef.
Summer art camp sessions for children ages 5-12 also will be held July 28-31 from 9 a.m.-noon or from 1-4 p.m. at the Taube. Discounts for multiple children in a family.
Other classes offered this summer include:
-Crochet Basics-Freeform Crochet, June 21, 1 p.m., ages 13 and older, learn basic stitches to get started with freeform crochet, some crochet knowledge helpful.
-Paint & Sip, June 11, 6 p.m., ages 21 and older, all materials provided, led by EJ Rose.
-Letting Go-Acrylic Painting Techniques, June 14, 2 p.m., adult class, focus on emotion and temperature theory, led by Virginia Conn.
-Custom Canvas Shoes, July 15, 6 p.m., ages 12 and older, Artist-in-Residence Debbie Kauffman will guide participants through customizing their shoes. Bring your own shoes.
