Sterling Uleberg, Minot, sentenced to 4 years for armed robbery, burglary
Sterling Thomas Uleberg, 18, was sentenced on Wednesday to eight years in prison, with a requirement that he serve four years without the opportunity for parole, followed by five years of supervised probation, for robbing a juvenile boy of his bike at gunpoint in Roosevelt Park on July 1.
He also pleaded guilty to burglarizing the State Fair Center on June 29, breaking into the vending machines and stealing drinks, and was sentenced to five years in prison, with a requirement that he serve four years, followed by two years of supervised probation. He must also pay restitution of $7,623.71 for damaging a door and two vending machines and is banned from entering the State Fairgrounds for six years. The sentence for the burglary is concurrent with the armed robbery charge.
Uleberg also received concurrent sentences for plotting an escape attempt with another juvenile boy from the Ward County Juvenile Detention Center on July 4 and threatening a female correctional officer during the attempt. That C felony will be reduced to a Class A misdemeanor if Uleberg successfully completes probation. He also pleaded guilty to stealing a lawn mower out of a shed and driving it, a Class C felony, and to driving under the influence last summer, a Class B misdemeanor, and also received sentences that are concurrent with the other charges.
Uleberg will receive credit for the time he has served in the Ward County Jail.
Uleberg was sentenced last week to 360 days in jail for menacing a juvenile, a Class A misdemeanor, on March 3.
Uleberg was 17 at the time of all of the offenses but was charged as an adult.
