Minot woman dies from injuries in two-vehicle crash

A 74-year-old woman from Minot died from injuries sustained in a two-vehicle crash at the U.S. Highway 2 and 13th Street Southeast intersection in Minot on Sunday, May 17.

According to the North Dakota Highway Patrol, about 5:32 p.m., a 2022 Mini Cooper Countryman, driven by a 74-year-old Minot man, was traveling westbound on Highway 2. A 2012 Ford Fusion, driven by a juvenile, of Glasgow, Montana, was traveling northbound on 13th Street Southeast.

The Mini Cooper collided with the Ford Fusion within the intersection, and both vehicles came to rest in the northwest portion of the intersection.

The driver and passenger of the Mini Cooper sustained serious injuries and were transported to a Minot hospital, where the passenger died of injuries.

The driver of the Ford Fusion sustained minor injuries, and one passenger, a juvenile also from Glasgow, sustained serious injuries. They were transported to a Minot hospital. The third occupant in the Ford Fusion, a juvenile of Minot, was not injured.

The names of the juveniles will not be released.

According to the Highway Patrol, the occupants of the Mini Cooper were wearing their seat belts. The Ford Fusion’s driver and passenger who sustained injuries were not wearing seat belts. The juvenile from Minot in the Ford Fusion was wearing a seat belt.

The crash remains under investigation by the North Dakota Highway Patrol.
