NDCPD receives grant for Living in an Adult World project

The North Dakota Center for Persons with Disabilities at Minot State University was recently awarded funding from the North Dakota State Council on Developmental Disabilities for the “Living in an Adult World” (LIAW) Project, according to information provided by the university.

According to JoLynn Webster, project director, this funding will be used to provide resources to high school students with intellectual and developmental disabilities to support them in becoming legal decision makers as they reach adulthood. This will be accomplished by modifying an online booklet that was originally authored by members of the State Bar Association of North Dakota (SBAND). “Through the LIAW Project, SBAND’s booklet will be adapted so that it is easier for transition-age youth with disabilities to read and understand,” Webster said.
