WATFORD CITY – Amid businesses re-opening across the state under COVID-19 guidelines, one industry that routinely practices social distancing is opening shop in Watford City.

ISight Drone Services will be providing drone assessments of gravel roads in McKenzie County following rain to allow for timely open/closure decisions by county officials.

The two-phase project begins recording baseline data this week. Phase one will be completed in late fall of 2020. Phase two continues in spring and summer of 2021 and hopes to take advantage of North Dakota’s new beyond visual line of sight (BVLOS) infrastructure, when available.

“Our team has been looking forward to this project since the county commission approved it back in February,” said ISight CEO Tommy Kenville. “We will also provide additional commercial and agricultural work to the area that will keep this new office quite busy. We are grateful that Adam Overvold, our most experienced pilot, has agreed to be our site manager here in Watford City.”

“We anticipate McKenzie County will see economic benefits from the data ISight will provide,” said Commission Chair Tom McCabe. “We also appreciate the fact they are bringing new technology jobs to our area. We look forward to working with them.”
