March another month of above average temps

March was the fourth month in a row with above average temperatures, according to Joe Effertz of the North Central Research Extension Center, south of Minot.

“This past month of March, we had an average temperature of 28.8 degrees, which was 4.3 degrees above the 113-year long-term average of 24.5 degrees,” he said.

Effertz said the lowest temperature of the month was -6 degrees, which occurred on March 20, and the high was 63 degrees, which occurred on the 30.

He said the total moisture for the month was 0.62 inches, which is 0.11 inches below the long-term average of 0.73 inches. The total snowfall for the month was 7.1 inches, which is 0.6 inches below the long-term average of 6.5 inches, Effertz said.

Rain or snow is in the forecast today and Thursday but after that will be more sunny weather, according to the National Weather Service.
