Harold D. Mautz, 78,

Garrison, died on Sunday,

December 22, 2019 at

Banner Ironwood Hospital

in San Tan Valley, AZ.

Funeral services will be

held on Saturday, January

4, 2020 at 2:00 pm at

Evangel Church in Garris-on. Burial will be at the

Garrison City Cemetery.

Visitation will be held

on Friday from 4 pm to 7

pm at Thompson Funeral

Home in Garrison with a

prayer service beginning

at 7 pm.

Harold was born March

18, 1941 to William (Bill)

and Pauline (Hach)

Mautz. He lived in the

Garrison area all his life.

Harold worked various

jobs starting at the early

age of 9. He swept floors

at the Wretling Body

Shop, went down south

custom combining at the

age of 16, and worked for

Burns and Wretling Coal

Mine and Farm. Then for

a short time Harold had

his own body and paint

shop business.

Harold married the love

of his life, Rita Minette,

on December 15, 1961. In

1963 they purchase their

first farm and farmed un-

til his retirement in 2003.

Out of this union came

two daughters.

Harold loved being with

people. To him, no one

was a stranger. He had a

quick wit, interesting

sense of humor, and

could talk to anyone he

met. His stories were end-

less. He will be greatly

missed by his family and

many friends.

Harold loved his family,

grandchildren, and great

grandchildren. Each one

of them having a special

place in his heart.

To celebrate Harold’s

memory, Harold’s family

is asking everyone to wear

some sort of red color to

the funeral, as red was his

favorite color.

Harold is survived by

his wife of 58 years, Rita,

Garrison; daughters, Jody

(Todd) Pennings, Lead,

SD, Jana (Neil) Dockter,

Garrison; grandchildren,

Jamin (Kari) Johnson,

Jamestown, ND, Ashley

(Ryen) Lindner, Water-

town, SD, Lexi (Joshua)

Welder, Watertown, SD,

Braydon Kunkel, Rugby,

ND, Tatum Dockter,

Bismarck, ND; great

grandchildren, Landon,

Lauren, and Logan John-

son, Jamestown, ND,

Tanner and Abel Lindner,

Watertown, SD; brother,

Mylo (Marlene) Mautz,

Garrison, ND,

sister-in-law Shirley

Minette, Aberdeen, SD;

brother-in-law Bruce (Au-

dra) Minette, Prescott Val-

ley, AZ.

He was preceded in

death by his parents,

mother and father-in-law,

Marvin and Blossom

Hodges, sister and

brother-in-law, Lorraine

(Lyle) Robinson, niece,

Pat Robinson,

brothers-in-law, Dwane

and Keith Minette, and

granddaughter, Lenae

Raye Kunkel.
