Equinor invests in Stanley athletic complex

STANLEY — Equinor, an international energy company, has announced in a press release a $10,000 investment in the capital campaign to renovate Stanley’s Will Athletic Complex. The donation comes through the Equinor North Dakota Charitable Fund, which is housed at the Northwest North Dakota Community Foundation.

“Supporting the health and wellness of Mountrail County youth is a great opportunity for Equinor to invest in the future of Stanley,” said Ward Koeser, president of the board of the Northwest North Dakota Community Foundation. “We are honored to work with Equinor to invest in great projects throughout our region since they established the Equinor North Dakota Charitable Fund in 2017.”

The renovation of the Will Athletic Complex is a more than $2 million effort to install a new track, artificial turf field, new lighting, proper drainage and new bleachers. The renovation will enable hosting larger sporting events, thus supporting Stanley’s economic development, and provide a safe space for spectators and youth to train.

“The renovation of the Will Athletic Complex will be something that the community can take great pride in,” said Heath Hetzel, president of the Stanley Blue Jay Boosters. “We are so appreciative of Equinor’s gift and the ability to work with companies to support our community’s future growth.”
