Names of victims of triple fatality crash released

The North Dakota Highway Patrol has released the names of those in a triple fatality crash occurring Monday on N.D. Highway 23, 18 miles southwest of Minot.

Marvin Ness, 78, Douglas, and Jonathan Zacher, 28, and Cara Zacher, 27, both Parshall, died in the crash. A female child who was in a child safety seat, also of Parshall, had minor injuries.

The accident happened about 12:30 p.m. Monday.

According to a news release, the Silverado, driven by Ness, was going west and the Suburban, driven by Jonathan Zacher, was traveling east on Highway 23. The Silverado crossed into the eastbound lane and struck the Suburban head-on. The Silverado left the road, coming to rest upright on the south slope of the highway. The Suburban left the road, coming to rest on the passenger side in the south ditch of the highway. The Suburban then started on fire and was fully engulfed in flames.

Besides the Highway Patrol, agencies involved were New Town Ambulance Service, Max Ambulance Service, Max Fire & Rescue, and Ward County Sheriff’s Department.

The crash remains under investigation by the N.D. Highway Patrol.
