Ward County Achievement Days start Monday

Submitted Photo Youth will display projects ranging from static displays, demonstrations, livestock, pets, small animals and horse shows at Ward County 4-H Achievement Days at the North Dakota State Fairgrounds June 17-20.

Nearly 240 Cloverbud and 4-H members will be in Minot for the 87th Annual Ward County 4-H Achievement Days on Monday, June 17, through Thursday, June 20, displaying their talents and skills they have been perfecting during the past year.

Ward County 4-H Achievement Days at the North Dakota State Fairgrounds will display projects ranging from static (non-living) displays, demonstrations, livestock, pets, small animals and horse shows.

Beginning on Monday is the 4-H Horse Show held in Arena II. Unique to other shows, the show is open to all 4-H horse exhibitors, whether they are Ward County members or not.

Tuesday morning is the Dog, Cat and Small Animal Shows located in the Expo Building. Next will be Static Judging in Magic Place during the afternoon. Judges will interview the youth individually for each exhibit they bring.

On Wednesday is the all-day Livestock Show also held in the Expo Building.

On Thursday is the crescendo of Achievement Days starting with the Rabbit and Poultry Show in the Expo Building during the morning. Around 2 p.m. will begin a fun-filled activity called “Ag Olympics” in the Expo Building. This is a family-fun event with minute-to-win-it type games and lots of laughter. After Ag Olympics, beginning at 4:30 p.m. will be the 4-H Friends and Family Barbecue and Awards Program in Magic Place. In the evening at 7 p.m. will be the Pee Wee Pig Show in the Expo Building. Capping the day at 7:30 p.m. is the Livestock Premium Sale.

Following Achievement Days is the Ward County Shootout on Friday, June 22. The Shootout is an all species livestock show that is open to all youth exhibitors. Starting at 8 a.m., the show will begin with swine, then sheep, goats, and cattle.

On Saturday, June 23 is the North Dakota Junior Beef Expo.

All events are open to the public.
