Celebrations all around for Fourth of July

Minot and surrounding areas celebrate Independence Day

Shyanne Belzer/MDN Fireworks are now on-sale at a variety of locations just outside of Minot. Those interested in lighting off their own fireworks, using sparklers or any of the other large variety of firework items can purchase them now.

With the Fourth of July fast approaching, there are a variety of event taking place to celebrate both in Minot and in surrounding areas.

In Minot, the events will begin with the 2019 Fourth of July Festival in Roosevelt Park starting at 9:30 a.m. The event will kick off with a Patriotic Ceremony at the Medal of Honor Memorial followed by a performance by the Minot City Band.

From 11 a.m. onward, the festival will feature food and craft vendors, bounce castles, yard games and more. There will be a Princess and SuperHero Meet and Greet with face painting and starting at 12 p.m., the Badlands Express will be providing musical entertainment.

Admission is $5 for adults. Children 12 and under are free. The purchase of a wristband will provide a discounted admission to both the Roosevelt Park Zoo and the pool with children 12 and under free to the zoo.

At 4 p.m. at Minot International Airport, the Dakota Territory Air Museum will be co-hosting the Spirit of the Plains Airshow. The show will feature Canadian Forces Snowbirds, World War II aircraft demonstrations, first-class aerobatics, UAS drone demonstrations and more.

The event is free to the public with the gates opening early at 2 p.m.

Around 10:45 p.m., after the Nodak Speedway races, the 2019 Fireworks Display will round out the festivities with a bang. This will take place at the North Dakota State Fair Grounds.

Stanley will be hosting their own day of events with Stars in the Park. It will kick off with the Fourth of July Firecracker 5K. Registration will start at 7:30 a.m., the race beginning at 8:30 a.m. at the East parking lot of the Stanley High School.

The 5K is a family friendly, run, walk, dash or bike ride. The cost is $40 per person and proceeds will be going to the Ray Rude Outdoor Pool.

At 10:30 a.m., the Kiddy Parade will start followed by the Main Parade at 11 a.m. Lunch will be served by the Stanley Women of Today in the park at noon and the pool will be open 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. with free admission.

A car show will be held in the afternoon with registration at noon and the show will be starting at 1 p.m. alongside a vendor show.

When dusk falls, the fireworks will begin at the South Complex.

Day two of Stanley’s celebration, on July 5, will start at 12:30 p.m. with registration for Corn Hole. The competition will start at 1:30 p.m. and sand volleyball will begin at 2 p.m.

A Lip Sync Battle will take place at 2 p.m. and food vendors will be serving all day.

The Dirty Word concert will end the night with a concert from 8:30 p.m. to midnight.

The Fourth of July Parade in Rugby will take place at 11:30 a.m. with lineup on the West side of the Rugby High School. No registration is required and everything from tractors to trucks to classic cars to floats are welcome to join.

The parade will begin down Main Avenue at 1 p.m.
