Volunteers needed to help with veterans project at cemetery

This year Honoring Those Who Served-Ministry breakfast group will be conducting its second annual spring veterans project in preparation for the Memorial Day event at Rosehill Memorial Park in Minot.

Volunteers from the community are needed to help with the work.

Plans are to do landscaping work around the markers of fallen veterans in Section 16 located just east of Section 12. Section 12 was cleaned last year. There are over 500 markers that need to be worked on.

“As veterans, in doing this project is our way of ‘taking care of our own,’ especially if some of these veterans do not have family members around to prepare their grave(s) for the Memorial Day event,” said Richard Reuer of the veterans group.

Anyone interested in volunteering should contact Reuer at 701-441-1170 or email richardreuer@srt.com for more information about dates and times to meet at the cemetery.

“Let’s show our appreciation to our fallen heroes and their family members for their service to our God and country. While we labor around each of the markers, may we remember them by reading their names, honor the service that they have given for us to have the freedom to give back to them, and to teach our children the value of the freedom which was given by those we are honoring during this Memorial Day event for the ultimate sacrifices that they have given to our nation. God bless our troops and God bless America,” Reuer said.

This year’s Memorial Day service will be hosted by the William G. Carroll American Legion Post #26 on Monday, May 27, at 10:30 a.m. at Rosehill Memorial Park.
