Produced water spill reported in McKenzie County
ALEXANDER – A pipeline leak caused the spill of produced water, a by-product of oil and gas development, about eight miles north of Alexander on May 10, according to a news release.
The North Dakota Department of Environmental Quality was notified of the spill the same day. The pipeline is owned and operated by Caliber Midstream North Dakota LLC.
Initial estimates indicate about 3,500 barrels of produced water were released and impacted pastureland. Personnel from NDDEQ are inspecting the site and will continue to monitor the investigation and remediation.
