City of Minot schedules town hall meeting for May 8

The City of Minot has scheduled its first town hall meeting of 2019 to provide information to community members and answer questions on specific topics.

The event is planned for May 8 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. in Perkett Elementary School at 2000 5th Ave. SW.

“We welcome the opportunity to meet with community members by essentially bringing City Hall to a neighborhood setting, and we encourage everyone to join us on May 8,” Minot Mayor Shaun Sipma said. “Flood control will be a major topic of discussion, and Perkett Elementary represents one of many, many successful recovery stories in Minot since the 2011 flood.”

Topics scheduled for discussion at the May 8 meeting include:

– Local impact of the 2019 legislative session.

– Flood control funding and project progress.

– FEMA flood risk map timeline and impacts.

– Open discussion and questions.
