Energy company awards STEM Felowship to Williston teachers

WILLISTON — Two Williston educators have been selected for the Equinor STEM Education Fellowship.

Equinor, through the Equinor North Dakota Charitable Fund held by the Northwest North Dakota Community Foundation, announced Brandi Mehlhoff and Audrey Angelo were chosen for the program, which provides science, technology, engineering and mathematics educators with resources to support their professional development and enhances STEM education in the region.

Mehlhoff and Angelo were selected through a competitive application process. They have selected their professional development activities to include attending the Texas Computer Education Association’s 2019 convention and exposition. At the event, Mehlhoff and Angelo will have the opportunity to connect with other educators on a mission to discover the knowledge and resources they need to engage students, enhance curriculum and increase productivity.

Mehlhoff is a 16-year veteran teacher and the library media specialist at Bakken Elementary School. Mehlhoff oversees the STEM makerspace, where students can spend time tinkering and creating.

Angelo has been with the Williston Public School District for over five years, where she has worked in the district’s technology department to conduct technology training for fellow educators. Currently, Angelo is a fifth-grade technology teacher at Bakken Elementary School.

“Our partnership with Equinor is remarkable, allowing the community foundation to support its community, giving directives through new projects and initiatives like the Equinor STEM Fellowship program,” said Ward Koeser, president of the Northwest North Dakota Community Foundation. “We are so appreciative of their investment in the community foundation and our region.”

Headquartered in Stavanger, Norway, Equinor is an international energy company with operations in 37 countries.
