Through Power of the Purse, members of the Minot Area Community Foundation are bringing smiles to the families of the Domestic Violence Crisis Center. In total, they donated $2,000 worth of toys for all ages to the center to be given to children through their “Happier Holiday” event.

In a press release, Jill Wald, Power of the Purse Member, said, “Power of the Purse is a group focused on women and children in Minot, so this opportunity was a perfect fit for us. We were all so excited to be able to help DVCC provide Christmas gifts for their families.”

The donation went to help the DVCC’s annual campaign. “Happier Holiday” is a part of the DVCC’s goal of providing something extra to those they help during the season. They offer it to the many people who receive services from them throughout the year so that survivors and their children can get some special gifts.

In a press release, Jill McDonald, executive director of the center said, “On behalf of everyone at Domestic Violence Crisis Center, we are so grateful to the Power of the Purse Giving Circle. Over the years, this dynamic group has been instrumental in bringing a little bit of magic into the lives of families impacted by domestic violence. Today they are helping bring the Magic of Christmas to the families that may not experience a happy Christmas without a little help.”
