International Old-Time Fiddle Contest winners announced

DUNSEITH – Winners of the 43rd annual International Old-Time Fiddle Contest held Saturday at the International Peace Garden have been announced.

Fiddlers participated from Arizona, Florida, North Dakota, Manitoba and Minnesota for trophies and cash prizes totaling more than $2,000.

Judges for the annual event were Eric Christopher, St. Paul, Minn.; Jane Cory, Winnipeg, Manitoba; and Jimmie Tengesdal, Minot.

Following is a list of the final results of the contest:

Championship

1st Place: Shelby Huston, Minot.

2nd Place: Jess Barry, Tuscon, Ariz.

3rd Place: Caitlin Armstrong, The Pas, Manitoba.

4th Place: Erin Okrainec, Winnipeg, Manitoba.

5th Place: Caitlin Baker, Brandon, Manitoba.

Senior

1st Place: Brian Granger, Nesbitt, Manitoba.

2nd Place: Gilmore Lee, Maple Plain, Minnesota.

3rd Place: Laura Barry, Tucson, Arizona.

Adult

1st Place: Corrine Garey, Tucson.

2nd Place: Gabriel Brien, Minot.

3rd Place: Phil Veldhuis, Starbuck, Manitoba.

Junior

1st Place: Jesse Gregory, Brandon.

2nd Place: Tim Veldhuis, Starbuck.
