Brandon Chandler sentenced for intent to deal meth and heroin

Brandon Lamont Chandler, 31, will serve about three years in prison, followed by three years of supervised probation, for intent to deal meth and heroin in Minot on April 3.

He pleaded guilty to the two Class B felony charges in district court in Minot on June 19. Judge Richard Hagar sentenced Chandler to six years in prison, with three years suspended, along with the probation. He was also ordered to pay $1,350 in court costs and obtain a chemical dependency evaluation.

Chandler was also charged last week with two new Class B felony charges of intent to deal meth and heroin in Minot.

Spence Courville sentenced for intent to deliver heroin

Spence Courville, 34, will serve about two years in prison for intent to deal heroin in April and prohibited possession of a firearm by a felon.

Courville, who is already serving a sentence at the State Penitentiary on other charges, pleaded guilty to the Class B and Class C felonies on June 19.

Judge Richard Hagar sentenced him to five years, with three years suspended, for both charges and three years supervised probation. The sentences are concurrent with the sentences he is already serving. He must also pay $775 in court costs.

Shane Barbot, Selma, Ore., charged with dealing drugs in Minot

A Selma, Ore., man is accused of intending to deal drugs in Minot on March 8.

Shane Dominique Barbot is charged with a Class B felony in district court in Minot. He is also charged with Class A misdemeanor possession of hashish.

According to a probable cause affidavit filed with the court, Barbot was stopped for driving on the Broadway viaduct without his headlights on late on the night of March 8. The officer smelled burned and fresh marijuana when he approached the vehicle and searched the car. Police found a Mason jar containing a bag of fresh marijuana buds, rolling paper and a brick of hash marijuana weighing about 10 grams. Barbot was standing on four plastic bags containing approximately four grams of cocaine. Police also found $701 in cash. They obtained a search warrant for Barbot’s hotel room. Hotel staff had opened a bag in the room to find out whom it belonged to. The hotel staff saw suspected drug paraphernalia and about $11,000 in U.S currency in the bag.

Barbot is scheduled to make an appearance on the charges on July 2 in Minot.

Barbot is also charged with a first offense of DUI, possession of marijuana and possession of marijuana paraphernalia, all Class B misdemeanors.

Margret Diallo Couch given deferred sentence for striking corrections officer

Margret Millian Diallo Couch, 29, Minot, was given a deferred imposition of sentence on Thursday for striking a male Ward County Jail officer across the face while she was being escorted to a cell on April 8.

Diallo Couch pleaded guilty to simple assault on a peace officer, a Class C felony, in district court in Minot. Court records show that Judge Richard Hagar sentenced her to the deferred sentence for 18 months of supervised probation and ordered her to pay $525 in court costs.

Diallo Couch had been arrested for DUI. She pleaded guilty to that charge in Minot Municipal Court. Diallo Couch had already completed a chemical dependency evaluation.

Eric Yarham, Minot, charged with criminal vehicular injury

Eric Steven Yarham, 21, is accused of driving drunk, speeding, colliding with another vehicle on May 20 and seriously injuring the other driver.

He is charged with Class C felony criminal vehicular injury in district court in Minot. He is scheduled to make an initial appearance on the charge on Monday before Judge Stacy Louser.

According to the police affidavit, the accident happened in the area of Valley Street and 27th Street SE. Yarham reportedly hit the other car at an angle on the driver’s side and the collision split the other car in two. Yarham was reportedly driving at up to 80 mph, according to witnesses. His blood alcohol content reading was .145.

The other driver broke three vertebrae and one rib and both of his lungs partially collapsed. He was suffering from pain and nerve problems in one of his shoulders more than a week after the accident.
