Man sentenced to 12 days in jail, probation for terrorizing

A 31-year-old Minot man will serve 12 days in prison for ramming and damaging a vehicle carrying two people on April 5.

Kevin Michael Perdue pleaded guilty Monday to a charge of terrorizing, a Class C felony.

Judge Doug Mattson sentenced him to a total of two years in prison, with a requirement he serve 12 days, and three years of supervised probation. Perdue must also pay restitution of $1,226 and $1,600 in court costs.

The state dismissed a Class A misdemeanor criminal mischief charge against Perdue, according to court records.

According to a probable cause affidavit filed with the court, the victims – a 20-year-old woman and 21-year-old man – had left the man’s residence in northeast Minot and began traveling west on 6th Avenue NE. At the intersection of 6th Avenue NE and 3rd Street NE, Perdue began following them in his car, a tan Chevy Tahoe. The male victim told police that he believed it was Perdue because Perdue had been looking for the female victim all night. Perdue was upset about an incident that happened earlier. The woman recognized the vehicle Perdue was driving as one that belonged to one of family members.

Perdue began to get closer to the rear of the victims’ vehicle, sped up and rear-ended it. Both vehicles continued westbound until the male victim’s vehicle stalled in the middle of the road.

A witness saw the stalled vehicle and helped them push it to the side of the road. The female victim got out of the car and began to argue with Perdue, who had gotten out of his vehicle.

While police were interviewing the victims, Perdue was seen driving by the location multiple times in a black Chevy Camaro. Police later went to Perdue’s residence and placed him under arrest.

In a separate case, Perdue pleaded guilty to two counts of felony terrorizing in December 2016. Under the plea deal, he was given a suspended jail sentence of one year and three years of supervised probation.
