Summer water tours scheduled across ND
The 2026 Summer Water Tours hosted by the North Dakota Water Education Foundation have been scheduled in Carrington, Watford City, Dickinson, Belcourt and Bismarck.
The tours offer a close-up look at critical water issues and initiatives across the state. Registration includes tour transportation, lunch, materials and a one-year digital subscription to the North Dakota Water magazine. The tours are:
– Meeting Water Supply Needs in Central North Dakota and the Red River Valley, June 30, learn about the Garrison Diversion Conservancy District and visit Cows & Co. Creamery, Dakota Pasta Growers and Kittleson Crossing, a collaborative water management project. Tour begins and ends in Carrington.
– Industry Growth Fueled by Water, July 16, learn about the Western Area Water Authority, hear about the region’s growth from the Keene Fire Department and learn about irrigation at Meadowlark Acres, a farm-to-table produce farm. Tour begins and ends in Watford City.
– Bully! For a Sustainable Future, July 30, visit the Theodore Roosevelt Presidential Library, Phat Fish Brewing, Marathon Petroleum and Dickinson Water Treatment Plant to learn about the Southwest Pipeline. Tour begins and ends in Dickinson.
– A Tribal View of Water, Aug. 3, learn how the Turtle Mountain Band of Chippewa views water and travel to the U.S.-Canadian border and International Peace Garden. Tour begins and ends in Belcourt.
– Protecting and Regenerating for a Positive Outlook, Aug. 12, learn about local flood protection and innovative irrigation practices. Visit Lake Oahe and Menoken Farms, Tour begins and ends in Bismarck.
