McDonald named new publisher at Minot Daily News
Dan McDonald
Dan McDonald has been named publisher of the Minot Daily News effective Thursday.
McDonald comes to the Minot Daily News from the Daily Press in Escanaba, Mich., an Ogden Publishing Corporation newspaper, where he has been publisher for the past eight years.
He has been in the newspaper business for 21 years. Prior to Escanaba, he worked for 21st Century Newspapers in lower Michigan.
A native of Alma in central Michigan, he is a graduate of Northwood University in Midland, Mich.
He has a daughter, Kara, who is currently attending Central Michigan University in Mount Pleasant, Mich.
He is an active Rotarian and has been involved in Junior Achievement as a volunteer consultant and board member.
He enjoys fishing, camping and is an amateur guitar player.
“I’m very happy to be part of the team here at the Minot Daily News and look forward to becoming a part of the community here at Minot,” said McDonald.
“I believe that a community newspaper has to define itself,” he said. “I know that this newspaper has a great history, and that as our readership evolves we have to continue to find the voice for the different types of readers.
“I’m also a firm believer in building relationships with the advertisers because advertisers love great content. The more local we can make the content the better off we are,” he said.
