50 feet of fudge

Elaine Gunderson/MDN Customers at the North Hill Marketplace Foods store get a sample of fudge. On Thursday, the store’s Bakery Department assembled 50-feet (or 240 pounds) of fudge, To make the fudge required 168 pounds of sugar and 60 pounds of cocoa. This year, Marketplace Foods has assembled other food feats including a 50-foot caramel roll; red, white and blue cupcakes to form a 6-foot-long U.S. flag for the Fourth of July; a 50-foot strawberry shortcake; and a large Breast Cancer Awareness ribbon. Peggy Kallias, North Hill Marketplace Foods’ bakery manager, said they like to be involved with the public and the community, and these projects create fun and excitement.
