Fraud hits Dacotah Bank customers

Some customers of Dacotah Bank branches in North Dakota noticed their debit cards were not working this week.

According to a statement by Paul McDonald, vice president of marketing for Dacotah Bank in Aberdeen, S.D., the bank identified and stopped attempted fraud on those cards.

McDonald said only a small percentage of customers’ accounts were affected.

“We are proactively contacting affected customers and replacing their debit card at no cost to the customer,” McDonald said Wednesday. Generally, it should only take days to receive a new card, he said.

Additionally, no customer or bank losses have occurred, he said.

Mike Hollan, the bank’s chief operation officer, attributes the prevention of actual fraud to the bank’s internal systems and staff. “In today’s economy monitoring for fraudulent transactions is a necessity.” Hollan said.

Starting at $2.99/week.
