Sentenced to four years for drug-related felonies

A Minot man was sentenced to four years in state prison after pleading guilty to two drug-related felonies, child endangerment and unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon.

Antoan Raynard Simmons, 46, Minot, entered his change of plea in North Central District Court on Tuesday, pleading guilty to Class B felony count of delivery of fentanyl and maintaining a premises or property for the use, storage or sale of controlled substance; and two Class C felony counts of child endangerment and unlawful possession of a firearm-felon. Eight other counts including conspiracy to deliver fentanyl, DUI-drugs, DUI-refusal, possession of fentanyl, and fraudulent practices in urine testing were dismissed in accordance with a plea agreement.

According to court documents, the charges against Simmons stemmed from a controlled purchase of fentanyl powder conducted by the Ward County Narcotics Task Force.

District Court Judge Douglas Mattson sentenced Simmons to first serve four years of a 10-year sentence with the Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation for the delivery charge, with credit for 35 days already served. Simmons was sentenced to concurrent sentences of four years for other three counts. Simmons was ordered to complete three years of supervised probation upon release, and to pay $575 in court fines and fees. The $400 in buy fund money and $933 seized during his arrest were ordered to be forfeited to the WCNTF.
