Couple sues hospital for negligence
A couple is alleging that their unborn twins died due to the negligence of a Trinity obstetrician and Trinity Health.
George and Krista Bates are seeking damages in excess of $50,000 from Dr. John David Amsbury and Trinity Health.
According to a complaint filed with the district court in Minot, Krista Bates was pregnant with twins. She had signs of mild preeclampsia on Jan. 16, 2014, but Amsbury did not make plans to immediately deliver the twins. A week later, Bates called the hospital complaining that she noticed decreased fetal movement. On Jan. 22, 2014, an ultrasound was performed at the hopsital and no fetal heartbeats could be detected.
Attorneys for Trinity and for Amsbury both deny the Bates’ allegations of negligence.
The Bates filed the malpractice suit last month.
