Leaking pipe leads to spill in McKenzie County
BISMARCK – The North Dakota Department of Health received a report of a produced water brine leak. The leak was caused by a corroded pipe connection at an Oasis well site in McKenzie County.
Approximately 1000 barrels of brine spilled at the site, 11 miles northwest of Arnegard. Most of the produced brine was contained and recovered on the pad. However, an unknown amount spilled over into the adjacent land and a nearby stream.
Inspectors from the North Dakota Department of Health and the Department of Mineral Resources are at the site working with the company on remediation efforts.
