Saltwater storage tank leak causes spill near Antler

ANTLER A leaking saltwater storage tank four miles southwest of Antler in Bottineau County released 210 gallons of oil and 10,920 gallons of produced brine water into an agricultural field and road ditch, according to the North Dakota Department of Health.

Recovery efforts are continuing at the site, which is owned by Murex Petroleum. So far, 17,640 gallons of fluid have been recovered, including rainwater from the area.

Inspectors from the Health Department have collected samples from the site for testing. The impacted soil will be removed to a disposal facility.

Health Department officials will be working with the company on clean up and remediation.
