BISMARCK – The North Dakota Aeronautics Commission reports the state’s eight commercial service airports recorded 108,460 airline passenger boardings during August 2026, a decrease of about 4% compared to August 2025. Minot International Airport recorded 14,498 boardings in August, down 6%. Airlines provided 129,976 available departure seats during the month, a decrease of 6% from the previous year. VELVA – A 67-year-old Karlsruhe man died when the pickup he was driving and a semi crashed about 3 miles east of Velva Tuesday, Sept. 22. According to the North Dakota Highway Patrol, at about 7:30 a.m., a 2012 GMC Sierra pickup, driven by the Karlsruhe man, was traveling west on 44th Street North near Velva. A 2004 Freightliner semi pulling a dump trailer was traveling east on the same roadway. As the Freightliner was turning north onto 12th Avenue North, it struck the Sierra.
