BISMARCK - The annual N.D. March for Life will be held Oct. 9 at the Bismarck Event Center.
Members of the public, of all faith denominations, are encouraged to attend. Students from Catholic schools across the state are set to join the march.
This year's guest speaker is Shana Peltz, Bismarck resident and author of “Listening for Lies: Hearing the difference between the spirits of this world and the Holy Spirit, and why it matters.” She will share how God transformed her life after an abortion.
The day begins with Mass celebrated by Bishop David Kagan at 10:30 a.m. at the Bismarck Event Center. Door A1 opens at 9:30 a.m. Lunch will be served to registered attendees after Mass. The rally at the event center begins at 12:30 p.m. Immediately following the rally, a march will proceed to the state Capitol south lawn, leaving from door A1.
The local N.D. March for Life is modeled after the National March for Life. However, in 2022, a decision was made to change the timing of the local march to be held annually in October, which is designated as Respect Life Month. The first Sunday of the month is Respect Life Sunday. In correlation, the N.D. March for Life is the first Friday following the first Sunday of October.
The goal of the march is to raise awareness and proclaim solidarity in the mission to pray for and to protect life from the moment of conception until natural death. The N.D. march event is a joint planning effort with the Bismarck Diocese, University of Mary, North Dakota Right to Life and other entities that joined forces for the North Dakota Pro-Life Committee.
