Steele hired as new Farm Business Manager instructor

Morgan Steele is the new Farm Business Manager instructor at Dakota College at Bottineau’s Rugby location, according to DCB. Steele grew up on a small-scale farm and ranch in Kansas. She graduated from Kansas State University in 2017 with a bachelor of science in Feed Science and Management with a minor in Animal Science. Currently, Morgan is working toward a masters in Agribusiness from Kansas State University. Moving to Fargo in 2017, she spent four years working in the pet food industry. She currently lives in Barton.

Are state interest-rate caps an automatic win for borrowers?

Small-dollar, short-term lenders, unburdened by a federal maximum interest rate, can charge borrowers rates of 400% or more for their loans. But more states are bringing that number down by setting rate caps to curb high-interest lending. Currently, 18 states and Washington, D.C. , have laws that limit short-term loan rates to 36% or lower, according to the Center for Responsible Lending. The SRT Communications, Inc. Board of Directors has named Cassidy Hjelmstad Chief Executive Officer/General Manager of SRT effective Jan. 1.
