Tuff Trucks celebrating in its 20th year

A Minot business in its 20th year is celebrating with an open house Feb. 20 and also marking the addition of a 5,000-square-foot second shop.

Tuff Trucks Offroad opened in Glenburn in 1995 but has been located in Minot most of those years at various addresses. Owner Jason Kniffen moved the business to 516 37th Ave. SW in 2008 and hasn’t regretted it.

“The location has been excellent … With Walmart right across the street, I’ve got no complaints at all,” he said.

Tuff Trucks has changed somewhat since its early days when pickup truck upgrades, and beginning 16 years ago, spray-in bed liners, were the main services offered.

A recent 5,000-square-foot addition allows Tuff Trucks to take on a lot more jobs, such as front-end alignments, and other worked that needed to be outsourced before.

“Now we can do it all ourselves…We are pretty-much ready for anything. We don’t just work on trucks anymore,” he said.

The additional space has meant the hiring of a service manager and one new technician, Kniffen said.

One thing that hasn’t changed over the years, Kniffen said, is the desire by truck owners to tweak their machines, even if they were just purchased new.

“We get them with 5 miles on them most of the time – straight from the dealership,” he said. “We really are your one-stop performance shop.”

Starting at $2.99/week.
