More than 360 contestants Race to Remember

WHITE SHIELD – More than 360 contestants from peewee to adult took part in the Race to Remember cancer benefit, an annual barrel race and silent auction, held at the Ree Ranch at White Shield Sept. 28. Money raised each year supports those fighting cancer. This is the 10th annual Race to Remember. The barrel racing started at noon on Sept. 28 and ended past 11 p.m. Those taking part in the Race to Remember included 335 youth and adult contestants, and 27 peewee contestants.

MHA Nation to hold annual fall festival

NEW TOWN – The Mandan, Hidatsa and Arikara Nation will hold an annual fall festival, including a rib cook-off, on Friday at 1 p.m. at the MHA Nation Tribal Headquarters at New Town, according to information from the MHA Nation. The festival is a celebration of the season filled with family friendly activities, music and food. Activities will include the Annual People’s Choice Rib Cook-off sponsored by local businesses and industry partners, craft vendors, pumpkin carving contest, bean tag tournament and scarecrow contest.

Minot Park District sets Pumpkin Walk for Oct. 11-12

Minot Park District will hold its Pumpkin Walk Friday and Saturday, Oct. 11-12, from 6-9 p.m. at Woodland Trail, a trail in southwest Minot off the U.S. Highway 83 Bypass. according to park district information. Those taking part in the walk will park at the Dog Park. Individuals and businesses who would like to pledge donated carved or decorated pumpkins to illuminate the trail must contact the Minot Park District office about a week in advance for full details. Retirement’s Comic Relief: Florida’s winter hunting season offers new experience

North Dakota hunting will ramp up next month. But, in Florida, it can happen in February. A couple formerly from Minot who now live in Florida beckoned us to spend the day hunting crustaceans north of Marathon Key’s Seven Mile Bridge with other friends.
