Camera Club members receive awards in year-end competition

Crystal Johnson’s portrait photo “Steamer” was the top monochrome photo in the Minot Camera Club contest.

The Minot Camera Club recently recognized the work of its members, who have contributed to a display in the lobby of Minot Public Library.

The Camera Club is a group of amateur photographers who get together twice a month for lessons, competitions and conversations. Award winners for the 2022-2023 year were recently announced at the club’s year-end banquet by Club President Erich Linser and Judge Jason Gemar.

David Abernathey of Minot won first place in color with his print, “Gol Stave Church.” Crystal Johnson of Plentywood, Montana, had the top monochrome photo,“Steamer Portrait.” Abernathey’s “Gol Stave Church” was chosen as the “Best of Show.”

Other members with photos that made the final cut in year-end competition were Tony Meiers, Carol Crowdus and Betty Nordstrom of Minot, Richard and Kathryn Debertin of Berthold and Todd Johnson of Plentywood.

Richart Debertin received the Outstanding Photographer of the Year award. Crystal Johnson received the Lisa Eriksmoen Memorial Outstanding N4C Member of the Year and Rosemary Debertin Memorial Outstanding First Year Member. Cheryl Lesmeister of Minot received the Eileen McEown Outstanding Member of the Year.

David Abernathey’s photo “Gol Stave Church” took first place for color photos and was chosen Best of Show in the Minot Camera Club’s annual contest.
