Nedrose School Board Minutes

February 19, 2020, 6:30 P.M.

The Nedrose School Board Meeting

was called to order by President Jim

Vannett. Members present; Jim

Vannett, Holly Brekhus, Robert

Kraus, Todd Awalt, and Chris Sut-

ton. Also present was Matt Norby,

Administrator, Chelsey Raymond,

High School Principal, Connie Mar-

cellais, Business Manager, and Lisa

Bahm, Teacher Representative.

Staff Absent; Alex Schmaltz, Ele-

mentary Principal. Motion made by

Robert Kraus and seconded by Holly

Brekhus to approve the agenda.

Motion carried unanimously. Cardi-

nal Kudos were presented to Cus-

todians Tommy Weltikol and Keith

Heisler for their outstanding dedica-

tion and countless extra hours keep-

ing the building safe and clean, cov-

erage when staff is shorthanded and

help when needed for snow remo-

val. The School Board would also

like to congratulate Brock Zietz for

receiving District 11 Athletic Director

of the Year Award. New nominations

for Cardinal Kudos: Lisa Olson and

her Cheer Team. Lisa organized

and directed the mini cheer camp

that had a very large turnout with

great success. Motion made by

Robert Kraus and seconded by Jim

Vannett to accept the nomination.

Motion carried unanimously. Motion

made by Jim Vannett and seconded

byChris Sutton to approve the

minutes of the January 15, 2020

meeting. Motion carried unanimous-

ly. Robert Kraus moved and second-

ed by Chris Sutton to approve the

Financial balances as of January 31,

2020 as presented; checkbook,

$1,976,604.24; MM Savings,

1,224,449.20. Motion made Robert

Kraus and seconded Jim Vannett to

approve the bills in the amount of

$51,772.91 using check numbers

55667 – 55672 and 55759 – 55796.

Motion carried unanimously. Activity

Director, Elementary Principal and

High School Principal reports were

reviewed. Motion made by Holly

Brekhus and seconded by Chris Sut-

ton to complete the first reading of

policy ACEA – Bullying Policy. Mo-

tion carried unanimously. Grant

committee reported that Shelly has

found a possible fund matching

grant for the playground. Motion

made by Holly Brekhus and second-

ed by Jim Vannett to accept Calen-

dar A for the 2020-2021 school

year. Motion carried unanimously.

Discussion was held regarding the

NDSBA Handbook Service. It was

decided that the Administration will

meet to decide on the table of con-

tents to be included in the staff

handbook. Business Manager

Evaluation was reviewed. It was de-

cided that another evaluation will be

done in July, then going forward it

will be done annually. Three Bus bid

were opened and reviewed. Motion

made by Robert Kraus and second-

ed by Chris Sutton to accept the

I-State Truck bid. Motion carried

unanimously. Motion made by Holly

Brekhus and seconded by Todd

Awalt to approve the

superintendent’s formal evaluation.

There being no further changes, the

necessary forms will be filed. Super-

intendent Evaluation should be com-

pleted by the 10th of next month.

Motion made by Holly Brekhus and

seconded by Robert Kraus to accept

the retirement of Rebecca Welsch,

2nd grade teacher. Motion carried

unanimously. Superintendent Norby

presented staffing needs for the

2020-21 school year. He will open

up the position of 2nd grade teacher

and an elementary school coun-

selor. Nedrose School has one

available seat on the Nedrose

School Board. This seat is a 3- year

term currently held by Todd Awalt.

The election will be held on Tues-

day, June 9, 2020 at the High

School located at 5701 15th Ave.

SE. Polls will open from 11:00 a.m.

to 7:00 p.m. Next scheduled board

meeting will Wednesday, March 18,

2020 at 5:30 p.m. Meeting ad-

journed.

Air Force Reserve in Vector Control

for fiscal year 2020 and 2021. The

proposal is for the Department of

Defense (Innovative Readiness

Training Program) to perform arthro-

pod borne disease control training

through the aerial application of pes-

ticides. There is no funding for these

operations without the assistance of

the USAFR unit. To fulfill the
